ELine 1200 EC7 - The revolutionary cabling system
Multimedia up to 1.4 GHz via twisted pairs!
When a passive cabling system is referred to as 'multimedia', you start to wonder whether the two things go together – after all, the term is mainly known in connection with products of entertainment electronics.
However, ELine 1200 EC7 indeed has multimedia capabilities because it allows the parallel use of various media via structured in-house cabling: data, speech, images and TV transmission.
Simply ingenious!
Since the early 90s. Kerpen has been offering 100 series with pair shielding. This principle was the model for the chamber system of the ELine 1200 EC7 connector.
The 4 individually shielded chambers make the EC7 the ideal improvement on individually shielded connector S/FTP cables. Cable and connector form a perfect symbiosis: 4 pairs and 4 chambers with GHz performance.
The advantages are obvious: consistent separation of the signal paths in an optimally matched system expands the options for using them in an unparalleled way.
It is thus possible to use Class A to D data services simultaneously with only one cable and one EC7 jack. However, different services such as telephone or data can be operated in parallel with no danger of NEXT problems. These options are summed up under the terms "cable sharing" or "service sharing".
The product
The EC7 connector consists of a zinc die-cast housing with a nickel-plated surface. The full-metal version guarantees optimum electromechanical characteristics through high precision and robust design.
The "smallest jack in the world" allows the use of up to 3 ports in the PREMIUM wall outlet and up to 48 ports on one rack unit in the switching cabinet! Especially in computer centres with limited space, this is a welcome advantage.
Within the PREMIUM series, it is also possible to equip wall outlets and panels with a combination of Cat. 6 jacks of the ELine 250 RJ45 S program and Cat. 6 ELine 500 RJ 45S program (mixed media application).
The performance!
ELine 1200 EC7 is designed for applications according to Class FA or higher
Even at 1GHZ, the NEXT still has large reserves.
ELine 1200® EC7 cablings meet the demands made on Alien Crosstalk with a high degree of reliability.
External influences from adjacent channels are prevented and suppressed simultaneously via the double shielding of the S/FTP cables and the modular shielding of the connection technology.
The Alien Crosstalk is attenuated by a factor of >120 dB (a factor if 1,000,000)
The coupling attenuation meets the additional requirements according to Class F
The values for the Alien Crosstalk are thus complied with "design-specifically", making it unnecessary to measure them in the installation. The advantages for the user are obvious: technical superiority and high cost-effectiveness.
Power over Ethernet plus!
In contrast to the classical RJ45 connection technology, the EC7 is the ideal choice for Power over Ethernet plus. When the plug is "connected under load", the spark forms outside of the function contact during operation. It also has lower transition resistances, making it suitable for permanent 30 W operation.
In conjunction with high-quality S/FTP cables, the temperature increase in the cable link is below 5°C.
TV via twisted pairs!
The task of transmitting CATV services via twisted pairs is technically very demanding. In order to be able to transmit all channels, transmission frequencies of up to 862 MHz are necessary – this demands the utmost in reserve performance of the system and above all good attenuation characteristics.
During development, ELine 1200 E7 was specially optimized for this purpose, the current product range providing a wide range of tools for transmitting CATV signals.
The world of twisted pairs (100 Ω) is connected to the world of television (75 Ω) via twisted passive work area cords with an integrated balun.
In contrast to conventional solutions, outlets can be used flexibly: Thus, from being a telephone or data outlet, EC7 is easy to turn into a TV connection later if necessary.
Cost-effectiveness!
"High tech“ and "added value“ only come at a price. Ultimately, it is not necessary for the system to cost more than conventional systems in which each service usually requires a cable and a connector of its own. ELine 1200 EC7 allows up to 50% of the cables, connectors, outlets and patch fields to be dispensed with.
Multiple use reduces the system costs by between 15 and 30% (depending on the services used). The reduction of the cable quantities and jacks actually required also allows costs for cable ducts, switching cabinets etc. to be reduced in most cases..."Duty sharing" with ELine 1200 EC7 cuts costs!
Our experience!
ELine 1200 EC 7 is going in many innovative new ways.
Against this background it may seem surprising that Kerpen launched it onto the market as early as 1996. Since then we have always worked in close cooperation with our customers, so a large number of ideas for adding to the product as well as optimizing it have been included in the system design over the last few years. All this makes ELine 1200 EC7 an unparalleled and well-engineered system solution geared to the requirements of the market!
As a 4-lane data highway, ELine supplies 1200 EC7 multimedia to the workplace.
Customers all over the world appreciate this, the result being a wide installed basis of over 4 million ports with top references.
The characteristics of the EC7 connector put it at the top of its class. The patented 4-chamber principle provides unlimited reserves in comparison with the transmission characteristics agreed upon according to ISO/IEC 11801 2 ISO/IEC 15018 as well as a performance of up to 2.4 GHz per individual chamber, all in an extremely small space,
This makes ELine 1200 EC7 extremely well-equipped for future applications such as 40 and 100 GigaBit Ethernet. Thanks to cable and plug sharing, the customer can transmit different services using one and the same cable. The simultaneous and, much more importantly, disturbance-free transmission of 1 to four services continues to set the benchmark. Examples: 4 x telephone/fax services from one outlet; 1 x telephone, 1 x IT and 1 x TV from one outlet. The customer determines the assignment of the services according to his requirements.
The high flexibility of the system allows you to switch from one service to another in a jiffy, all without follow-up costs due to having to insert cables later or install additional outlets. Especially in environments in which the personnel moves around a lot, thus constantly changing the communication requirements, and in computer centres in particular, ELine 1200 EC7 offers an ideal, flexible and economical solution.
